Weather Alert for U.S. Citizens: Flooding and Landslides, U.S. Embassy Bogota, Colombia (April 26, 2019)

Location: Colombia, nationwide

Event: Colombian authorities have issued landslide alerts for 10 of Colombia’s 32 administrative departments. Strong rain, electrical storms, and landslides are expected to continue throughout the month of May 2019.  Landslides regularly cause fatalities and block major roads during the Colombian rainy season.

Actions to Take:

  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Monitor alerts from the Colombian Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology, and Environmental Studies (IDEAM).
  • Seek secure shelter if traveling in affected regions.
