In an academic day held in Bogotá, officials of the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies and invited entities met good experiences and news of issues that are essential to achieve the Digital Transformation of the State.
With the assistance of more than 100 officials, the academic agenda programmed between the ICT Ministry and the United States Embassy in Colombia finished in Bogotá. Thanks to a joint work of bilateral cooperation, North American experts trained public servants in the country in data protection, digital services design, spectrum management, 5G technologies, and cybersecurity.
Claudia Pico Quintero, Director of Digital Government of the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, said in her speech that opportunities for knowledge transfer such as these seek to share international best practices, success stories, and exchange experiences to improve local practices. On the issue of digital security, he reiterated “from the ICT Ministry and the Directorate of Digital Government, we understand that threats evolve in the same way that technology does. That is why meetings like this, strengthen information security capabilities and leverage the Digital Transformation of the State”.
Olga Madruga-Forti, a member of the delegation from the Federal Communications Commission, who highlighted the importance of these activities: “Our visit to Colombia has been an excellent opportunity to discuss the important contribution to our economies that 5G will bring. While we consider the regulatory policies that will drive this technological revolution, which until now is in the design phase, it is time to consider the importance of security and instill confidence in the future 5G ”.
The academic agenda also included conferences on topics such as Data Policy and the Digital Economy, Promoting business environments and 5G and Spectrum Management and 5G development, in which officials learned about topics such as global connectivity and data flows, divergence in Data protection models, Global trends in the deployment of 5G technology, Policy, and regulatory roadmap for the 5G ecosystem, Challenges and opportunities in digital infrastructure and Improving regulations in the ICT sector.
