U.S. Embassy Statement
The United States Embassy reaffirms the strong friendship and alliance between Colombia and the United States. We have supported the Colombian government and people through times of war and we will continue to support them in times of peace.
Visa records are confidential under U.S. law. We do not discuss individual visas cases. The State Department has broad authority to revoke visas based on information that comes to light at any time indicating that a visa holder may be inadmissible to the United States or otherwise ineligible for a visa. All determinations regarding visa eligibility are based on U.S. law and regulation.
The United States and Colombia have a long history of open and frank dialogue. Our diplomatic mission is to represent U.S. interests to Colombian interlocutors. As we do so, we recognize, value, and respect Colombia’s sovereignty and the vitality of its democratic institutions. We particularly value the relationship that we have built over three decades with the brave men and women of the Colombian judiciary, who work tirelessly and with integrity to ensure the rule of law. Our judicial cooperation has delivered concrete results to both nations. We appreciate our continued dialogue.
