U.S. Embassy implementing new On-Time procedure to reduce wait time for visa applicants

Bogotá, May 27, 2015

In an effort to help reduce everyone’s time waiting in line, beginning June 1, 2015 visa applicants should arrive to the U.S. Embassy at the time of their appointment and no earlier.  Applicants will only be permitted to enter the Embassy compound at the time of their appointment.  Previously the Embassy had recommended arriving earlier than your scheduled appointment time, and in some cases permitted entry ahead of schedule.  We realize this approach was leading to longer lines inside the Consular area.

Visa applicants should not worry.  We have revamped the way we schedule and have built in time for all the steps you need to complete the process.  By keeping to the schedule, we reduce wait times for everyone, to the benefit of visa applicants.  The Embassy will use the #LlegaJustoATiempo hashtag to remind applicants to arrive on time for their scheduled entry.
