Chapinero Forest Fire in Bogota (January 23, 2024)

Location: Bogota

Event: The Embassy is monitoring the reports of the Chapinero forest fire – a crown fire on 66th street in the eastern hills (Quebrada la Vieja sector) of Bogota. Local authorities have reportedly contained the fire and are working to extinguish it. However, the Embassy recommends that until the fire is fully put out, that U.S. citizens avoid the area and that individuals in the vicinity wear masks due to the poor air quality.
