Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy Bogota (April 5, 2019)

Location: Pan-American Highway, Departments of Cauca, Valle del Cauca, Huila and Caqueta, Colombia

Event: Protestors have blocked parts of the Pan-American Highway since March 12, disrupting transportation and causing 
shortages of fuel and supplies.  Police have clashed with protestors.  U.S. Embassy employees require advance permission to travel to these areas.

Actions to Take:
  • Avoid the Pan-American Highway. Consult local contacts for alternate travel routes, and consider traveling by air.
  • Avoid demonstrations.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
