Event: The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens that demonstrations are planned between February 12-15, 2023, throughout Colombia, with large gatherings expected in Bogota on February 14 and 15.
Bogota, February 14: Demonstrators are expected to gather in various parts of the city, including Parque Nacional and Plaza Bolivar, in support of Colombian Government proposed reforms. Demonstration activity could also take place in other locations, including near universities and Transmilenio bus stations.
Bogota, February 15: Demonstrators are expected to gather in various parts of the city, including Parque Nacional and Plaza Bolivar, in opposition of Colombian Government policies and proposed reforms.
Other Cities, February 12-15: Demonstrations both in opposition to and in support of the Colombian Government are expected throughout Colombia. Locations include, but are not limited to: Apartado, Armenia, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Cucuta, Manizales, Medellín, Monteria
The Embassy advises U.S. citizens to avoid areas around demonstrations whenever possible and exercise caution when in the vicinity of large gatherings as even peaceful demonstrations have the potential to turn violent without any warning.

- Avoid crowds and demonstrations.
- Monitor local media for updates
- Exercise vigilance.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
- Plan for alternative travel routes.
