Event: Expected Demonstrations Throughout Bogota
The U.S. Embassy has received reports of expected demonstrations today throughout Bogota this afternoon. According to Colombian National Police and local news outlets, demonstrations are expected on Carrera 7 (along septimal in several locations); Parque de la Campiña in Suba; Estatua Parkway; Plaza de Banderas in Kennedy; Plaza del Ajedrez CC Gran Estacion in Fontibon; Casa de la Cultura in Ciudad Bolivar; Puente de la Dignidad in Usme; Estatua Almirante Padilla in Tesaquillo; near Estatua del Reloj Parque Nacional; Plazoleta CC Titian in Engativa; and near Calle 106 and Careera 7 in Usaquen.
The Embassy will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary. While most protests remain peaceful, large crowds confronted by police or anti-riot forces may turn violent rapidly.
